Problems with Olvand, version 7.11

A. Issues with running a server

  1. You can't customize your ports
  2. If you want to stop serving, you have to restart the game

B. Gameplay bugs

  1. If you create a ladder that doesn't fit into any of your inventories, it's deleted (while the ingredients are gone as well
  2. When going underground, the game often crashes (related to the bugs under C), in particular when going down in groups
  3. Some (infrequent) tiles for water are missing

C. Bugs probably related to SDL (I plan to switch to OpenGL soon!)

  1. Things get rendered in the wrong order sometimes (like trees behind houses that are shown on top of them).
  2. Sometimes, all game objects suddenly dissappear.
  3. Sometimes, an object deforms when you walk behind it.
  4. The lighting engine (when going underground) is incredibly slow sometimes
  5. The GUI freezes sometimes

D. Connection bugs

  1. The client sometimes loses connection several seconds after you connected



Fixed problems, previously on this list (but I fix many more things along the way)

  • The achievement with the ladder doesn't work if you use a blueprint.
  • The website, which states which servers are online and which are not, often has it wrong
  • When your game crashes, a ghost player is sometimes shown where you died
  • People can log in on the same server multiple times
  • There's no crashlog
  • When starting up, the server gives an error about a lacking file called "areas.txt"
  • Using "127.0.0.1" instead of "localhost" as the IP address you're connecting to crashes the game.
  • Pressing e by a tree when your hand is empty crashes the game (the so-called "tree bug")
  • Shooting fire in half-lit regions underground sometimes crashes the game
  • You can build as many scooters as you want
  • The blue letters in the beginning of the game don't show up.
  • Pressing enter makes the logo disappear
